APRIL 2010 - NEW PRE-PLUMBED CUBICLE SYSTEM FULLY MANUFACTURED AND MADE READY TO INSTALL OFFSITE IGLOOS Washrooms have unveiled a new toilet cubicle concept this month which is a pre-plumbed integrated modular cubicle system. This new design was inspired following a demand for a cost saving solution that could be built off site and installed with minimal time and disruption. IGLOOS inspiration came when working on a project with a very demanding build time, IGLOOS used their previous experience of modular building construction and cubicle systems to develop this product. There are many benefits to the system due to its innovative design elements, for instance; it arrives on site pre-built, pre-plumbed and factory quality checked, it is suitable for all room sizes and can be adapted in colours to suit any environment. The Manufacturing Director at IGLOOS said "We identified a need in the market for a cubicle system which was prefinished in a controlled environment reducing the need for multiple trades on site. The emphasis was on speed of delivery and on-site construction and we wanted to create a product which removed the restrictions of more traditional pods in size and scope. We have gone from initial concept to development of prototypes and then to an excellent product which has got many architects and specifiers very excited" --ends-- JANUARY 2010 - IGLOOS SLEEP UNDER THE STARS and BIG THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS The evening commenced at 6pm when the participants received a branded thermos and a cardboard box! Later on we were nourished with soup and hot chocolate which was a real treat under the circumstances. To keep us busy and to provide our home for the evening there was a cardboard shelter competition with a lovely cottage produced by team IGLOOS - see photo of our residence! Sadly it didn't get a look in with the prizes! The night was very cold and the temperature got down to -3, but luckily due to preparation and successful shelter building, the team were able to bed down for the night. Imagine having to do that every night..... During the night the team were amongst fellow fundraisers such as hospital staff, church volunteers and residents of the YMCA. One current resident of the Kingston YMCA joined the team for a game of Connect4 and told us a bit about how he ended up being in the YMCA and how the organisation had helped him get back on the right track following alcoholism, losing his home and access to his children. There were also a number of homeless people sleeping in the same area as the team, these were 4/5 men, all with dogs, presumably for protection. That really brought it home. One member of the team commented "The scary thing about the event was that, knowing it was only for one night was what kept me going, and then I thought, hang on these people have to do it every night and this wasn't even the coldest it has been! Then everything suddenly became very clear!!!" Everyone was up at 5.30am starting to pack up ready for the McDonalds breakfast that awaited them back at the church. The night was a big success, with team IGLOOS raising nearly £700 so far thanks to help from clients, suppliers, family and friends. In total there were 140 people at the event raising over £15,000! Overall it was a great experience and gave us lots of motivation as a company to look closer at how we can do more for charity! --ends-- JANUARY 2010 - IGLOOS GOES BACK IN TIME ON AN ANIMATRONIC ADVENTURE IGLOOS are currently building the loos into the large temporary structure which will house the event. They are having the Ivory Panelled loo system installed, which will comprise of ladies and gents areas and three disabled loos with baby changing facilities. The Panelled loos system is being used as it resembles a permanent installation more usually found in a fixed venue than a temporary structure. In addition IGLOOS is building the medical, staff and store rooms as well as carrying out the water and waste distribution for the kitchen area. The family day out, located on Oxford Street, opens on 28th January and runs until 30th April. This not to be missed experience includes 24 life-size animatronic dinosaurs and brings the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods straight into the 21st century. This project follows a busy Christmas period which included loos being provided at some of the most prestigious Christmas and New Year parties in London and throughout the UK. IGLOOS also recently scooped the National Category Award for ‘away from home toilets' at The Loo of the Year Awards 2010. Dinosaurs Unleashed at Parklife Oxford Street is open daily until April 30th, 2010. --ends-- DECEMBER 2009 - IGLOOS WINS AWARD FOR ITS LUXURY MOBILE LOOIGLOOS Ltd is delighted to have won the National category award for mobile toilets along with a 5 star grading at The Loo of the Year Awards in the 2009 search to find the best 'away from home' toilets in the UK. SEPTEMBER 2009 - IGLOOS
HELP CLEAN UP THE ACT "Seventy-eight per cent of Brits cite dirty toilets their most hated festival experience.[1]" IGLOOS and Duck are never ones to shy away from a challenge and festival loos are certainly a big one. Everyone hates using them, as they are usually pretty basic and notorious for getting grubby in no time. But no more excuses, this year we're getting tough and together we are making festival toilets clean up their act. Duck installed the bespoke toilets provided by IGLOOS and made sure that they stayed clean for the entire day. Positive feedback from festival attendees included "Love what Duck and IGLOOS have done here - and plenty of toilet paper which has made my day" & "Britain's toilets need clearing up but yours are fantastic - thanks a lot I can't believe they are free"
IGLOOS are happy to support this very positive campaign against public toilets, Natasha Mawer IGLOOS Sales Director comments "IGLOOS was very pleased to collaborate with Toilet Duck to highlight the need to get our nations loos back in shape. Whilst proud to provide the best temporary loos for events throughout the UK IGLOOS has shown that even if a loo is for short term hire there is no excuse to have poor quality." This really sets the benchmark of what is achievable for permanent loos around the country. For this purpose IGLOOS Washrooms division focuses on the refurbishment of permanent loos in venues such as bars, offices and leisure centres.

AUGUST 2009 - LUXURY TEMPORARY TOILETS The practical issues of certain types of events start with advance logistical planning with the client, this is absolutely vital to ensure work is carried out to budget. Consideration for other contractors on-site is imperative and where a venue has restrictive access it is especially important that mutual schedules are agreed. An agreed timetable of actions can reduce unnecessary waiting on-site; prevent unforeseen labour and other costs - essential in the current economic climate. Team work amongst contractors is also helpful to ensure a successful cooperative installation: communicate and agree your requirements with each party before the build commences. Clients' expectations have reached unprecedented levels despite current budget cuts; to retain business and maintain a good working relationship it is important to deliver what has been promised both in terms of service and equipment. A risk assessment is performed by the Operations Department before every event to assess what could go wrong and how to prevent it, this usually covers most areas of risk however there are sometimes unforeseen circumstances within venues that can cause problems. Being available to the client to rectify any problems in the shortest, most practical timeframe is much appreciated. Matters that arise out of poor planning or communication, whilst unfortunate, are frustrating for all parties so it is important that everyone involved is on top of these. It may not necessarily be the supplier's fault but it becomes their problem and is ultimately costly to the business.
Preparation on-site for the loos is essential for ensuring they perform well at the event; therefore on-site communication with a key contact is vital to ensure delivery runs smoothly. There are various things that the crew may need in order to complete the installation, for instance depending on the type of product, they may need access to: fresh water, power and occasionally mains drainage.
The event hire market is not easy to measure but IGLOOS®' niche is in the private events and corporate entertainment sector for which there are rolling 3-5 year contracts in place. To encourage clients to show their commitment in this way, IGLOOS® invests in the business, both the infrastructure and research and development. R&D is carried out either following consultation with key clients or as a direct response to logistical challenges and particular end-client requests. For instance when temporary loos were required on the third floor of a building, IGLOOS® developed the Panelled System. The events industry as a whole covers a vast area which includes, but is not exclusive to, the private party market, music festivals, product launches and company conferences.
Due to the company's vast experience, reputation and product portfolio, IGLOOS® has been in demand to travel across the world installing temporary loos in locations that include: France, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Dubai, Libya, Ireland and many more. An obvious factor with supplying outside the UK is transport and shipping costs as well as the costs involved in sending crew to carry out the necessary work. IGLOOS® have looked into setting up offices abroad but are currently concentrating on product growth in the advanced UK event market.
IGLOOS® prides it on retaining annual contracts with clients but this does not make up the entirety of the business. Due to the economic climate in 2009, there has been a noticeable change in clients' attitudes towards booking their event suppliers. Some have cancelled events all together, either because they don't have the money or are worried about the perception of spending money on events, in case they are seen to be too extravagant by their shareholders. Others are enquiring and booking equipment at the last minute; a retail mentality seems to be seeping through that requirements can be purchased "off the shelf" instantly. Sometimes last minute delivery is possible but not always, so advance planning by the client is always advised. In addition, this does not help the company's cash flow, logistical or business planning purposes so is extremely frustrating. Other clients are either downsizing their budgets meaning a lower specification on what they might previously have booked or expecting the same specification for less money, which may or may not be practically possible. Loos are naturally a vital part of any event alongside food and drink, but they are often given a low priority and it can sometimes be difficult to convince the client of their high value in terms of the benefit they can bring to an event. Bad loos will always be remembered at any venue or event. A positive result of the current climate is that the business is evolving in unexpected ways; IGLOOS® now offer a concierge service to clients who want to hold their events in their own venues. This saves the client money and means they can still create a luxury loo area to complement their event. IGLOOS® provides vanity baskets for male and female areas with appropriate toiletries for each gender and an attendant to keep the loos looking clean and tidy throughout the event. This addition to the business means they can get a positive experience of the service IGLOOS® offers and hopefully when they do have the budget and requirements, they will know that IGLOOS® are a reliable supplier with great products. --ends-- |
